Hello, Air Community! Today I want to talk to you about the exciting transformation that is happening in the world of air conditioning in Latin America, and how this is changing the way we experience air conditioning in our region.
Beyond the Purchase: Weatherization Solutions for Everyone
The way we think about air conditioning is evolving rapidly. It is no longer just about buying air conditioning units, but about accessing complete air conditioning solutions. This is what we call “servitization”, and it is gaining ground in Latin America. But what does this mean in practice?
Extramural Air Conditioning Solutions
In places like Colombia and Chile, we are seeing an innovative approach to air conditioning, especially in densely populated urban areas. Energy districts are being developed that harness various energy sources, such as cogeneration, solar and geothermal energy, to provide heating and cooling to buildings and spaces in a specific geographic area.
Energy Districts in Colombia and Chile
These energy districts are changing the HVAC game in Latin America. Imagine living in a building where you don’t need to worry about buying and maintaining an air conditioning system. Instead, you are connected to an air conditioning network that provides you with the perfect temperature in an efficient and sustainable way. This is what the energy districts in Colombia and Chile are achieving.
Intramural Climate Control: Cooling as a Service
But innovation does not stop in the energy districts. We are also seeing a shift in the way companies are approaching air conditioning. Instead of selling air conditioning equipment, they are offering “Cooling as a Service” or “Air Conditioning as a Service”. What does this mean? Instead of buying an air conditioning system, you can subscribe to a complete air conditioning service. This means you don’t have to worry about initial investment or maintenance; you simply pay for the service you receive.
Diversifying Intramural Climate Control
It is important to mention that intramural HVAC has diversified into B2B (Business to Business) models, but there is also a great opportunity in the residential and B2C (Business to Consumer) markets. This means that both companies and individual consumers could benefit from these innovative solutions.
Increased Innovation and Co-creation
The exciting thing is that this transformation is not limited to large companies. Innovation and co-creation with startups can break down the barriers of current development. This means we can expect to see a wave of new ideas and approaches in the HVAC world.
The Future of Weatherization in Latin America
The future of air conditioning in Latin America looks exciting. From energy districts to servitization and HVAC services, we are moving toward a future where comfort and sustainability go hand in hand.
As an ambassador for Air Community, I am excited to be part of this conversation and to contribute to a fresher and more sustainable future in Latin America. Let’s continue to innovate together and take air conditioning to new horizons.
See you next time, Air Community!
